Drug screening

Urgent care laboratory drug screenings may involve urinalysis, blood draws or hair testing. In addition to rapid 5 panel and 10 panel screenings, we offer pre-employment, post-accident and DOT compliant drug testing.

Drug screening services

At CareNow® urgent care centers, we offer drug screening options and other testing services.

Schools, courts, hospitals and workplaces may require drug testing in situations like pre-employment, post-accident incidents or for safety compliance. If your employer has requested a drug screen, our trained staff is here to provide accurate, efficient and confidential testing.

Our walk-in drug testing centers

We ensure a smooth process with accurate results, no matter the reason for your drug test. We’re open seven days a week and welcome walk-ins.

Urine drug screen

Urine drug screening detects certain illegal drugs and prescription medications. For this type of test, a certified collector from our care team will guide you through the process with detailed instructions to ensure an accurate sample. You can choose between rapid results or lab-based testing, depending on your needs.

Blood drug screen

Our blood drug screen involves one of our medical professionals drawing blood through a process called venipuncture, a procedure where a member of your care team draws blood from a vein. Before drawing the blood, they will clean the skin around the site, locate a suitable vein and use a sterile needle to collect the sample. That sample is then sent to a lab for analysis.

Saliva drug screen

For a saliva drug screen, a provider will gently swab the inside of your mouth and cheek to collect a sample. This sample is then sent to a lab for analysis.

Hair drug screen

Our hair drug screenings detect substances used within the past one to three months. A trained collector will take a small sample of your hair, about the width of a shoelace, from your head or another body area if necessary. Typically, we’ll collect the hair sample from the back of your head so it’s not detectable. We then send the sample to a lab for analysis, looking for any drug molecules that may be embedded within the hair shaft.

What to expect

When you arrive for your drug screening, we’ll ask for identification and have you complete some quick paperwork. Depending on the type of test needed—urine, hair, blood, or saliva—a certified drug screen collector will guide you through the sample collection process while ensuring all regulations are followed.

Potential substances in a drug screen

A drug screen tests for a wide range of substances, both legal and illegal, that have the potential for misuse or abuse. These can include:

  • Marijuana (THC)
  • Cocaine
  • Opiates (e.g. narcotics: heroin, morphine, codeine, oxycodone, hydrocodone)
  • Amphetamines (e.g., methamphetamine, ecstasy)
  • Phencyclidine (PCP)
  • Benzodiazepines
  • Barbiturates
  • Alcohol
